The Verve - History - Promo Poster
Shot in New York City in 1995.
The slogan 'All farewells Should Be Sudden' was in fact nothing to do with us, it was already there, a piece of work by a local installation artist who had posted slogans on several disused theatres along 42nd Street in Manhattan. Also, we genuinely did not know at the time of the shoot the record would be the band's last - for that period at least. The news of the band splitting up reached me after the shoot but before the poster was designed - thus 'The last single'.
